We had a “girls night” at El Ayandante where ALL the girls from the orphanage came over to do hair, nails and tattoos! It took the girls a little bit to warm up to us crazy people…but it happened slowly. First the littlest girls wanted their nails painted and hair glittered. Then the older girls let us curl their hair and paint nails! After we were all done, a few of our girls had planned to teach them the Hannah Montana dance “Ho Down, Throw Down” ! It turned out that just our team learned it because the others were too shy to try it. The next night Mrs. Cox came to me and said that the girls from the house really want to learn the dance but they wanted us to come over to their place! We spent as much time as possible at the children’s home between outings to schools and villages. Our students connected like family to these kids. Its amazing what some polish and curling irons can do to bring a group of girls together…in any country!
