false sense of awesome

I love a real refreshing conversation. This morning I had the joy of doing a radio show with a friend and it didn’t matter if there was 1 or 100 in the listening audience.

We were going to be real and hope God could use our words.
Honestly don’t we sometimes just need a little real in a world of fake?
I think we have what appears to be a “false sense of awesome” going on people.
Are you with me? Maybe you also feel like the world of social media has you running a race that has no finish line in sight. This race can be exhausting for a Momma who barely has time to get everything done in her day and live to document about it!
The routine Facebook checks, Insta famous feeds, comment addiction,
and just
finding identity in how life appears for others can be so false,
yet so attractive.
In the searching, we lose sight of who we actually are.
In his book More or Less, Jeff Shinabarger reminds us that
our identity is not a trend
He says,
“Every person that lives less than his/her potential is limiting all human potential because that person is not offering the world the fullness of his or her true self.”
Dont we do a great job of offering the world an untrue self. One that is made up of others expectations of us or one that we try on hoping to create an identity that trends well.
We lose sight of our maker. We fabricate what looks good on someone else into our world…and it is not
Who we were created to BE.
What we were designed to DO.
Where we need to SERVE.
How we use our GIFTS.
I love Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3:14.
“…I fall to my knees and pray to the Father. The Creator of Everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him.”
and my favorite part
“Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.”
He has supplied us with unlimited resources and will empower us to be the who he designed us to be. Doesn’t the world have enough of everybody else?
