Giving thanks for creation takes us to the beginning. Genesis.
I love to think about what that moment was like when God spoke and beauty was formed.
“The earth was without form and void,
and darkness was over the face of the deep.
And the spirit of God
was hovering over the face of the waters.” Genesis 1:2
Waiting for the command of creation.
The power wrapped up in that moment had to be stunning.
The scenery continued to wow us.
Absolutely breathtaking to the point where
at any given moment one of the 6 of us would call out, “Ya’ll look!”
As we drove we literally gazed out over rolling hills and farmland.
into one place, and let the dry land appear.”Genesis 1:9
“Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens
to separate the day from the night.
And let them be for signs and for seasons,
and for days and years.
Let them give light upon the earth.” Genesis 1:14
That God was thinking of how we would enjoy the stars,
the seasons, the night is unbelievably kind.
Creation speaks of a Creator God and His love for us.
To the unbelieving population on this planet we know that God can be seen in the outdoors.
“For His invisible attributes, namely,
His eternal power and divine nature,
have been clearly perceived,
ever since the creation of the world,
in the things that have been made.
So they are without excuse.” Romans 1:20
The birds of the air busily collect and build their homes. Have you noticed?
Take a few minutes to step outside. Open your eyes to His creation.
Take a country road drive.
Thank Him for land.
Rake up a pile of leaves. JUMP!
Thank Him for seasons.
Find some water. Throw rocks.
Aren’t you glad He thought of water!
Take a walk in the rain. No umbrellas.
Thank Him for adventure.
Collect sticks. Build a campfire.
Welcome Him into the circle.
Pitch a tent. Count the stars.
Chase the sunset!
Recount the blessings of the day.
Collect leaves. Glue them on paper or make garland.
Take notice of color.
Find a field.
Thank Him for harvest.
Turning ordinary activities into ones that show gratitude creates moments where God is honored and our hearts swell with thanks. Have fun!
